HELL IS A SITCOM.
An animated horror-comedy, following the regulars of a bar in Hell.
Like Cheers. But in Hell.
THE RULES:
If it’s your first time here, let’s rip off the band-aid:
i.
EVERYBODY GOES TO HELL
It doesn’t matter who you were, or what you did. It’s just the way things are. You learn pretty quickly to stop asking questions.
iI.
EVERYBODY’s Damned forever
And forever is a long time. Most entities get some time-off, to ensure suffering, but not burnout.
iII.
EVERYBODY GETS A CUSTOM EXPERIENCE
Not all Hells are created equal. But they’re all designed to sting.

THE STORY
This Side of Hell is just another torture, NESTLED on Hell’s outer-rim.
For Brendan, that means tending-bar here. Inside of a sitcom he can never escape.
But for his friends, it may be their only escape… from hellish afterlives of their own.
...Until a lost little girl shows up, looking for help. Threatening to make everybody’s Hell a whole lot worse.
MEET THE CAST
Brendan
Bartender & Prisoner
A sarcastic layabout, Brendan takes very little seriously except for himself. Thankfully, his heart is just slightly bigger than his ego. Usually.
Suzie
The Bar’s Newest Regular
An undocumented soul without a punishment, Suzie’s hiding in the bar to escape Hellish persecution. But what’s even more frightening is how easily Suzie feels at home in Hell.
The Staff
Carlaxx
In-House Torturer
A screeching shapeshifter, Carlaxx is an “entity” haunting the bar as part of Brendan’s punishment. Her true nature is shrouded in mystery… for now. While our budget’s still thin.
Prax
Retired Incubus, Part-Time Waiter
Centuries among humankind has turned Prax into something of a human-ophile… though he’s much less cultured than he thinks. Still, he’s one of the few cheerful demons in Hell, working at the bar for “fun.”
Lilith
Demoness. Entrepreneur.
Famed socialite and High Demon of Hell, Lilith is the bar’s sometimes-boss / sometimes-villain... depending on how bored she is.
THE REGULARS
Joan of Arc
Patron Saint. Problem Drinker.
Nearly 600 years in Hell has turned Joan into something of a grouch. She’s quick to anger, thrilled to fight, and the first to stand up to tyranny… even if that means dragging everyone down with her.
Scott
Demon. Tormentor. Proud Union Card Holder.
Scott’s a huge supporter of human-hellspawn relations: torturing souls by day, and letting off steam with them at night. It’s unclear how much Scott is a true sociopath, or a dear friend. Even to Scott.
Todd
Senseless. Shameless. Skinless.
Upsetting to look at, and even more upsetting to be around, Todd is entirely ‘id’ with little-to-no filter. Still, he’s a valued friend to the bar for his blind loyalty. And sheer gullibility.
Torso
The Dark And Mysterious One
With a violent past shrouded in mystery, Torso is the defacto “village sage,” able to keep his head in any situation. Even without one.

Episodes
Season One takes us hostage with Brendan and his regulars, chained to sitcom scenarios involving the day-to-day of running a bar in Hell — hell inspections, karaoke weeks, bar fights between immortals — all while trying to harbor Suzie from certain doom.
Naturally, Suzie's arrival has brought unwanted attention to Brendan’s haunt — from both human and hellspawn alike — revealing a deeper mystery to the bar itself, and maybe, even a way to escape it.
SAMPLE SOME EPISODES
Episodic Structure:
The Hell Inspector - Episode 2, Season 1
A quick breakdown.
Immediately following the bar’s decision to protect Suzie from the forces of hell, a force of Hell shows up on their doorstep:
The Local City Hell Inspector, there to ensure the bar is “down-to-code” for Hell’s standards. And if not, he’s also there to sentence everyone to even worse punishments.
Naturally, at this very moment, Suzie has gone missing.
Prax distracts the Hell Inspector
By showing him the worst parts of the bar, and buying some time…
While the rest “look” for Suzie
…But mostly argue about turning her in to save themselves, or fighting the Hell Inspector regardless of the consequences.
…Except for Scott
Who simply refuses to help at all: it’s after 6:00, and he’s in the torture-union.
In the end, the Hell Inspector does find Suzie… but with the entire bar ready to protect her. Because in the end, they’re friends.
…And specifically, because they’re friends with Scott; a torture expert from Hell’s seventh circle, with a very specific and terrifying skill-set.

Brendan’s Hell is just one of many.
Through the series we’ll learn about the trials and tribulations facing our entire cast, as well as a pantheon of demons and historical figures along the way. We’ll learn why This Side of Hell is Brendan’s punishment, and indeed the fates all of our character’s, even Suzie.
But we’ll also learn that there’s still hope, even in Hell, eventually moving far beyond bar, and deeper into the Hell itself as our characters fight to overcome their traumas, torment, and especially themselves. Ultimately allowing us answer the series question:
“HOW THE HELL DO WE GET OUT OF HELL?”
